Elijah McCoy a.k.a The Real McCoy was an African Canadian Engineer & Inventor who held many patents for his inventions including lubricating oil for steam engines which allowed trains to move faster. He also invented the folding iron board and sprinkler system.

- “The Real McCoy” or The real thing is said to have derived from railroad engineers in reference to Elijah McCoy’s patented lubrication oil.
